What this is

The part of the yard that does not grow

Hardscaping is everything permanent and non-living in an outdoor space: the patio, the walkway, the wall, the steps, the fire pit. It is the structure that the planting and the lawn get arranged around.

Done well, it decides how the whole property gets used — where you sit, how you get to the back door, whether a slope is a problem or a terrace. Done badly, it sinks, cracks, and sends water somewhere you do not want it.

  • Turns unused lawn into space you spend real time in
  • Adds curb appeal and value that does not need mowing
  • Controls where water goes instead of leaving it to chance
  • Makes slopes and awkward corners usable again

Who it's for

Most projects start one of four ways

You do not need a finished plan to call. Any one of these is enough to start a conversation.

  • You want more usable space

A patio, walkway, or fire feature that turns unused lawn into somewhere you actually spend evenings.

  • Your yard is on a slope

Retaining walls and tiered designs turn ground you cannot mow into level, usable terraces.

  • Water is going the wrong way

Stone drainage and correctly pitched hard surfaces move runoff away from your foundation instead of toward it.

  • You are tired of repairs

Sunken pavers and cracked concrete usually mean a bad base. Rebuilt properly, it stops being an annual expense.

What we build

Hardscape features

Every one of these can stand on its own or combine into a single larger project. Most of our customers start with one and add to it over a few seasons.

Patios

A top choice for outdoor living spaces, patios are versatile and provide a durable area for relaxation, dining, or entertaining.

Walkways

Custom walkways add functionality and aesthetic appeal, offering safe and attractive paths through gardens or leading to front doors and backyards.

Retaining Walls

Both functional and decorative, retaining walls help prevent erosion, manage slopes, and create striking tiered garden designs.

Fire Pits & Outdoor Fireplaces

Perfect for gathering spaces, fire features provide warmth and ambiance, making outdoor spaces usable year-round.

Driveways & Paved Surfaces

Upgraded driveways, parking pads, or decorative paved areas enhance curb appeal and provide practical benefits.

Stone Drainage Solutions

Stone-built drainage that moves water away from your home while blending into the landscape.

Bring photos, a sketch, or a Pinterest board.

Whatever you have is enough. We will walk the property and tell you what is realistic on your ground and your budget.

Why ours lasts

It is what you cannot see

A paver patio is only as good as the base beneath it. Most failures — sinking, heaving, cracking, pooling water — trace back to ground that was never properly excavated, compacted, or drained.

Because we are an excavating company as much as a landscaping company, that part of the job is not subcontracted out or rushed. We cut the grade, deal with the water, compact the base, and then build. It is slower on day one and considerably cheaper over the next decade.

Straight answers

Hardscaping questions

What is hardscaping?
Hardscaping is the permanent, non-living structure of an outdoor space — patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits, steps, and paved surfaces. It is the framework that the planting and lawn work is built around.
What materials do you work with?
Concrete pavers, natural and cut stone, gravel, and poured concrete. The right choice depends on the look you want, the drainage on your site, and how much traffic the surface will take.
Why does ground preparation matter so much?
Because it is the difference between a patio that lasts twenty years and one that sinks in three. Since we do our own excavating and grading, the base under your hardscape is compacted and draining properly before the first stone goes down.
Can hardscaping fix a sloped or unusable yard?
Often, yes. Retaining walls and tiered designs turn a slope you cannot mow into usable, level space. We grade the site and build the walls as one project.
What does a patio or retaining wall cost?
Too much depends on size, material, access, and how much excavation the site needs for a price list to mean anything. We walk the property, talk through materials, and give you a written estimate for free with no obligation.
Do I have to do the whole project at once?
No. Most of our customers start with one feature and add to it over a few seasons. We can plan the full layout up front so the pieces still fit together when you come back to it.
Do you handle the excavation, or do I hire that separately?
We handle it. The grading, drainage, and base prep are done by the same crew that lays the surface, which is exactly why our work stays level.
